Business & Education Liaison Program
The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce mission is to Promote, Lead, Unite, and Serve our members, our businesses, and our community in order for Richmond-Wayne County to be a great place to live, learn and do business.
Education is key to the economic health of the Wayne County community. The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce works to facilitate and support partnerships between business and education to meet the needs of the community.
Business-Education Liaison Program
Through voluntary contributions of our members, the Chamber of Commerce is able to facilitate various partnerships between the business and education communities. Below are some of the programs offered with support from the Business-Education Committee. The Business-Education Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. Please join us.
Workforce Education Resource and Referral Service
Let the Chamber help you find the training and continuing education providers that match your business needs.
Business-Education Forums
The Business-Education Committee hosts two forums each year featuring timely topics related to business and education.
Education Flashpoints
Short “flashes” of information regarding education topics are sent out to businesses to share with their employees.
Career Day (funded in part by the Wayne County Foundation)
Wayne and Union County 10th grade students have the opportunity to select three career areas to explore with professionals.
Making connections between the business community full of professionals and the community of learners:
- Job Shadows – Students observe professionals in a career area of their interest for a short period of time.
- Business Tours – Students as a class tour organizations
- Classroom Speakers – Professionals are matched with area teachers who are looking for experts to bring relevance to their lessons.
- Internships – Support the higher education institutions and high schools in Wayne County promote and match students to organizations for internship opportunities. Student interns get valuable experience working in an organization and businesses and non-profit organizations can benefit from having an eager additional temporary employee.
