Summary The Director of Employer Engagement supports the organization’s mission, strategic objectives, and plan of work by serving as an intermediary between employers and Wayne County schools, developing the talent pipeline through work-based learning.
Responsibilities
Employer Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with local employers to understand their workforce needs and identify how they could best benefit and implement work-based learning opportunities including apprenticeships, internships, and job shadowing.
Job Matching: Work with school-based career coach to identify and match students with suitable work-based learning opportunities.
Program Promotion: Promote workforce development and work-based learning programs to employers.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records of employer interactions and job placements.
Monitor: Perform onsite visits and observe students and employers to ensure a smooth process, quickly addressing concerns and adjusting as needed.
Partnerships: Foster key partnerships with school-based career coaches, Eastern Indiana Works, Junior Achievement, Forward Wayne County, and the Business & Education Committee.
Workshops and Events: Organize and/or participate in job fairs, workshops, and other events to connect employers with students.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Director of Membership & Education and others to build on strengths and prevent duplication of efforts.
Consultation: Provide consultation to employers on best practices for hiring and retaining interns during and after graduation.
Communication: Along with the Marketing & Communications Specialist, create and disburse newsletters or articles keeping the stakeholders informed of progress, telling stories of success, and cultivating new business participants.
Committees
Serve on the Business & Education Committee, and local and state advisory boards, as appropriate.
Other Responsibilities
Maintain equity in job placements.

Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
Experience: Three years or more of previous experience in employer engagement, workforce development, or a related field.
Skills: Strong communication, networking, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent writing skills and attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong desire to do quality work on time.
Knowledge: Familiarity with local labor market trends and workforce development programs.
