Fountain City Forward Annual Community Meeting

​FOUNTAIN CITY, IN:  Fountain City Forward is excited to invite community members to an information meeting on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Fountain City Lion’s Club Building, 600 W Main St, Fountain City.
The group will share highlights from 2024 and discuss plans and the event calendar for 2025.  We will also present opportunities for community members to help shape the future of our town. 
2024 Highlights include:

• Supporting the creation of Little Free Library at the Northeastern Early Learning Center
• Hosting Business Pop-ups to salute local businesses.
• Creating and selling “Fountain City: My Hometown” t-shirts for folks to show their pride.
• Gathering historical and new community recipes to create the “Old Newport Recipes” cookbook, documenting our town’s history and community members.
• Coordinating with County Commissioners to have flashing speed limit signs placed at both ends of town at no cost to the town.
• Securing a grant from the Wayne County Foundation, earmarked for town beautification projects and community movie nights.
• Meeting the requirement to apply for official status with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs-Downtown Affiliate Network, which will open even more opportunities.
• Planting a community Christmas tree in the town’s park and holding the first annual “Hometown Holiday,” a festive Christmas event.

Upcoming events and volunteer opportunities include:

• Stewardship of new concrete planters placed throughout town and the Little Free Library.
• Monthly local business Pop-ins.
• 2nd Annual 5k/Pet Walk
• Four free movie events at the South ball diamond.
• 2nd Annual End of Summer Block Party
• Levi Coffin Days booth… and more!

Fountain City Forward will have the “Old Newport Recipes” Cookbook and “Fountain City: My Hometown” t-shirts for sale at the meeting. Join us for a chance to connect in a meaningful way. Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back, connect with others, and positively impact our hometown!
