The National Civics Bee is an annual competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.
Participating 6th, 7th and 8th grade students flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes.
The third annual National Civics Bee will take place in 2024 in partnership with local and state chambers of commerce across the United States.
The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to have been named an official partner to host a competition in Richmond, Indiana in 2024. Information for students and teachers will be distributed by local school corporations.
2023-2024 Key Dates
November 13, 2023: Essay portal opens
February 19, 2024: Essay portal closes - NEW DEADLINE!
February 20-26, 2024: Essay judging
Early March: Local Finalists Notified
March 22: Parent Confirmation Deadline
March 22 - April 30: Local Bees take place - Ours will be held on April 19, 6:00 pm at IU East
May 1 - August 31: State Bees take place - The Indiana State Competition will be held August 22-23
November 12: National Championship takes place in Washington D.C.
How to Enter Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student residing in Indiana with an idea about using civics to improve their community may review the rules and submit an essay application via this website: https://my.reviewr.com/NationalCivicsBee/site/IN/WCAreaChamber
The application opens on November 13, 2023, and closes on February 19, 2024.

**1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners should be prepared for possible live radio interviews with 101.7 The Point, Kicks 96 and G101.3 on April 23 and/or 23.
