Business Education Committee
The Business Education Committee serves as the Chamber's think tank for all issues surrounding workforce development. The Wayne County community is fortunate to have numerous educational opportunities available to students of all ages, including adults. This committee helps connect the dots between what exists and what is needed.
This year, the Business Education Committee has continued to grow and improve the programs they have been developing over the past few years. At the forefront of these improvements in the area of high school career exploration events for graduating seniors and juniors. Students will get to participate in multiple events, including a Career Exploration Fair. To wrap the school year up, we host an annual Hiring Fair for graduating seniors with no post-secondary plans. Students will get the opportunity to interview with multiple employers in hopes of landing a career upon graduation. Students who are hired at the Hiring Fair participate in a county-wide Signing Day where they commit to showcasing workforce development skills for our employers.
The Chamber has continued to partner with United Way to provide monthly career exploration videos for middle school students called Dig In. These videos highlight one employability skill each month and are demonstrated at a unique employer each month. Check out a few of the videos below.
The Business Education Committee meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 8:30 am
