Wayne County Sheriff's Safety AuditThe Wayne County Sheriff's Department is excited to announce their newest program, one that has been recognized at the national level; targeted violence prevention. Our own local law enforcement have been asked to present to groups across the country, including Washington DC and Dallas, Texas.
In wake of recent news surrounding targeted violence across the country, the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department have partnered together to bring safety audits for our members and their businesses. While we often think of targeted violence as being school-based attacks and shootings, 73% of the most recent active shooters took place in an area of commerce (mall, work, grocery, etc). Our own WC Sheriff's Department will not only teach businesses and their employees how to save yourself or your loved ones in the event you find yourself in an active threat but, teach you how to recognize and report signs and symptoms of suspicious behavior, and possibly help us prevent the event from occurring. Wayne County Chamber members will be able to receive a free safety audit, training, and the opportunity to work with Wayne County Sheriff's officers to learn how to best protect their business, customers, and employees. These audits will include a walk-through of your building and an employee survey, followed by training and overview with all employees and the opportunity to ask questions and identify potential threats.
