Issues & Advocacy Committee
The Issues & Advocacy Committee engages public issues on behalf of the Chamber to educate and inform Chamber members, visibly advocate for the interests of the Chamber, and work in a collaborative way to enhance partnerships among Wayne County's business, non-profit, and educational communities, as well as the Chamber's relationship with economic policymakers and government offices and officials.
Throughout the election season, the committee partners with Whitewater Community Television (WCTV) in facilitating legislative forums on InFocus Live, gathering questions from members and co-hosting candidate interview with Eric Marsh of WCTV and Brenda McLane of Hometown Media Group. In addition, each year the Chamber sends a delegation to the Chamber Day at the Indiana Statehouse. The day's activities give leaders a chance to tour the Statehouse, network with other Chambers from around Indiana, receive an update on the state Chamber's legislative agenda, and if possible, meet with elected officials.
The committee meets monthly to receive and identify issues which are pertinent to the mission and work of the Wayne County Chamber, host community partners in conversation to build bridges and common understanding, and counsel the Chamber in forming advocacy positions, educational opportunities, and organizational commitments. Members are encouraged to share topics and specific issues with the Chamber staff for future consideration.
The Issues & Advocacy Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 12:00 pm
