RICHMOND, Indiana. April 27, 2021 – The Richmond Community Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Curtis Wright, Ed. D. as finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools. In September, the Board embarked on a nationwide search, receiving a great amount of interest in the position and interviewing a diverse group of candidates before advancing Dr. Wright as the finalist.

“We are very exited to announce Dr. Curtis Wright as the sole finalist for our next superintendent. His wide range of instructional and school leadership experience, collaborative leadership style, and knowledge of the Richmond community will enable him to acclimate quickly as our new leader,” said John Weber, board president. “Curtis has a deep commitment to public education and has proven his dedication to work in the best interest of all students. We look forward to working with him to build upon our past success to best serve all of Richmond’s students and families.”

A 1997 alum of Richmond High School, Curtis later earned a undergraduate degree from Earlham College, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Oakland City University. He has been in school administration for over 10 years. He is currently the Director of Facilities & Security at M.S.D. of Pike Township in Indianapolis.

Indiana Law requires the board to hear public comment on the proposed superintendent’s contract within 7 days of signing the contract. The RCS School Board will host a public meeting on April 28, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the RCS Administration Building, 300 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, Indiana. During that meeting, board members will hear from all interested persons for purposes of discussing and hearing public objections to and comments in support of a proposed contract to be considered between the board and Dr. Wright. Dr. Wright is expected to sign a contract with Richmond Community Schools in May and formally assume the role of superintendent on June 1, 2021.
